Background
BlueMissionAA supports the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030” as the coordination hub for the Atlantic and Arctic basin. The Mission aims to protect and restore our ocean by focusing on ecosystem recovery, pollution elimination, and a carbon-neutral, circular blue economy. BlueMissionAA contributes to this vision by mobilising regional actors, strengthening cooperation across sectors, and involving citizens in creating a healthier, more resilient marine environment.
Objectives
The project aims to preserve and restore coastal and marine ecosystems and biodiversity to boost climate resilience in the Atlantic and Arctic regions. It will build governance frameworks and foster collaboration among researchers, innovators, industry, and communities. A key objective is to develop a FAIR catalogue of scientific knowledge and innovative solutions and to establish a monitoring and reporting system to track Mission progress. These activities support the emergence of a dynamic innovation ecosystem aligned with regional smart specialisation strategies.
Our Role
As leader of Work Package 4 (“Transfer Support Systems”), we support mature solutions on their path to market and practical application. We connect innovators with investors, funders, and public or private customers through innovation events, matchmaking, and industry dialogues. Together with project partners, we have developed a roadmap and the “Market Readiness and Societal Value Evaluation Framework,” which enables stakeholders to assess the value and market potential of their own solutions and to advance them accordingly. The goal is to accelerate the implementation of promising solutions and enhance their visibility among investors and decision-makers.
