E-Learning: Application – Exchange – Outlook

This year’s edition of the practice forum “E-Learning: Application – Exchange – Outlook” was opened by Fraunhofer IGD with VR and AR technologies that participants could try out for themselves.

The researchers at Fraunhofer IGD in Rostock demonstrated how augmented reality can also be useful in education and training.

With the presentation “Field-tested solutions for quality assurance as well as maintenance and training using augmented and virtual reality in companies,” Mario Aehnelt explained to visitors the everyday benefits of the technologies developed at the institute.

To understand the complex processes involved in operational or maintenance procedures, hands-on learning is essential in education and training. Using augmented reality (AR), Machine@Hand guided visitors through maintenance or assembly tasks by overlaying information – texts, images, and videos with instructions for the next work steps – precisely onto a real camera image. This makes the work instructions realistic and easy for technicians to understand.

This year, the exchange of experience took place over two days for the first time and provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the use of e-learning in companies with experts, users, and other clients.

Did you miss Machine@Hand?

Then feel free to join us at the User Day in Berlin! On October 25, we will be hosting a free workshop to demonstrate the benefits of Machine@Hand.
