Together with the Ministry of the Interior and Building of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Fraunhofer IGD invites you in October to showcase how research and practice work hand in hand.

Focus areas: current projects in Bioeconomy & Smart Farming as well as the Maritime Economy.

Bioeconomy and Smart Farming: Digitalization meets Agriculture

What does the agriculture of the future look like? At Fraunhofer IGD it is data-driven, sustainable, and efficient – thanks to innovative technologies from the digital world. Under the umbrella of Smart Farming, Fraunhofer IGD develops AI-based solutions for plant analysis, 3D digitization of fields and crops, and precise harvest planning. The systems provide farmers with valuable decision-making tools – directly from the cloud, fast and mobile.

In addition, Fraunhofer IGD contributes to animal welfare, for example with intelligent systems for behavior analysis and health monitoring. Preserving and sustainably using sensitive ecosystems such as peatlands is also in focus, with digital methods for moisture measurement and area analysis enabling climate-friendly management of these vital CO₂ reservoirs.

Whether it’s AI for better crop forecasts, 3D scanning for precise harvest strategies, or sensor technology for animal-friendly husbandry: Fraunhofer IGD shows how high-tech paves the way for resource-efficient, animal-friendly, and future-proof agriculture.

Maritime Economy

Ready for a journey into the depths? Our demo tour takes you into virtual offshore worlds, shows you a real underwater laboratory, and lets AI assess the state of our rivers and seas. Come by, dive in – and experience how technology creates added value from the sea!

Experience digital innovations in marine technology up close – from AI-powered systems to autonomous underwater technologies to smart solutions for sustainable use of the oceans. Fraunhofer IGD showcases its extensive digitalization expertise, which it contributes, among other things, to projects at the Ocean Technology Campus.

A special highlight is the interactive VR demo of the unique underwater test field “Digital Ocean Lab” off the coast: take a virtual dive into the Baltic Sea, experience a real underwater laboratory, and learn how artificial intelligence analyzes the condition of our rivers and seas. Come by, be inspired – and discover how technology at the Ocean Technology Campus creates real “value from the sea.”
