NØRD – Digital Congress in Rostock
On November 6 and 7, the first statewide digital congress of the Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania state government will take place under the patronage of Minister President Manuela Schwesig. In the cities of the future innovation hubs – Schwerin, Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund, Greifswald, and Neubrandenburg – the various opportunities and challenges of digitalization will be explored through keynote talks, workshops, and panel discussions. Fraunhofer IGD will also be taking part: on November 7, numerous companies and research institutions will meet at the Fraunhofer Institute for Large Structures in Production Engineering (IGP) to discuss the topic cluster “Computer Technology / Robotics / Artificial Intelligence.”
Digital Transformation in Shipbuilding, Robotics, and Production
Dr.-Ing. Mario Aehnelt, an expert in visual assistance systems at Fraunhofer IGD, will explain the impact that augmented and virtual reality can have in education and training in a keynote presentation. He will then introduce the Machine@Hand technology, which is already being used to train paramedics. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Freiherr von Lukas, site manager of Fraunhofer IGD in Rostock and an expert in the maritime sector, will present the Digital Ocean Lab Rostock, which is intended to serve in the future as a test field for digital innovations in underwater technology.
However, the event will not be limited to conventional lectures: in workshops, values discussions, and vision talks, visitors are invited to deepen their understanding, critically question sensitive topics, or simply enjoy discovering something new. Those who wish to continue networking can conveniently take a bus: from 4:00 p.m. onwards, a shuttle bus will take all night owls to the “Night of Community,” which offers a varied program including the presentation of the OZ Start-up Award, hands-on technologies, keynotes, and a closing party.
