Software Development for the Visualization of Maritime Sensor Data

Development of powerful analysis and visualization software for large volumes of maritime sensor data and customized sensor systems.

Fraunhofer IGD develops tailored software for analyzing and visualizing maritime sensor data. Its services range from requirements analysis, architecture, implementation and testing to deployment and maintenance. This makes sensor data usable and transforms sensor products into data-driven solutions.

End-to-End Software Development

Fraunhofer IGD supports the development of specialized analysis and visualization software throughout the entire software lifecycle. Its services include requirements analysis, software architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and maintenance. Development is primarily based on agile processes, allowing requirements to be closely coordinated with clients and gradually translated into suitable software solutions.

Visualization of Very Large Sensor Datasets

The technical foundation combines expertise in visual computing, a visualization toolbox and in-depth knowledge of industry-specific processes, sensor technologies and data formats. Fraunhofer IGD uses out-of-core rendering for very large 2.5D and 3D datasets. This enables point clouds and voxel data, among other formats, to be processed efficiently and presented clearly.

From Sensor Products to Data-Driven Solutions

The software makes the capabilities of customers’ maritime sensors visible and usable. Sensor manufacturers, vehicle manufacturers and system integrators can use it as a basis for integrating sensor data into applications and extending their value chain from sensor products to data-driven solutions. Related project examples include “Acoustic Cable Detection and Tracking,” using INNOMAR sub-bottom profilers, and “OTC-DaTA,” with EvoLogics as a project partner.
