How digital technologies can make the construction industry more efficient, sustainable and connected will be showcased by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft from 24 to 26 March 2026 at the digitalBau trade fair in Cologne. In Hall 8, Booth 534, four Fraunhofer institutes will present innovative solutions across the entire construction process chain – from data acquisition and planning to energy-efficient implementation and automated assembly.

At this year’s Fraunhofer ICT Dissertation Award, the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD received first prize. Dr.-Ing. Lena Cibulski was honored for her dissertation “Visual Analysis for Multi-Attribute Choice,” which she wrote at Fraunhofer IGD. The award was presented on January 27, 2026, during the New Year’s reception of the German Informatics Society (GI) and the Fraunhofer ICT Technology Alliance in Berlin.

Congratulations! Saptarshi Neil Sinha, a researcher in the “Virtual and Augmented Reality” department in Darmstadt, successfully defended his dissertation, “Scene Understanding Meets Realistic Scene Synthesis: Novel Learning-based Technologies for Scene Digitization, Analysis and Editing,” on November 24, 2025.

At Formnext 2025, Fraunhofer IGD will present two technological innovations for industrial 3D printing: the enhanced Cuttlefish® software with the new Cuttlefish®::Proof module, which for the first time enables a physically accurate preview of the print result, and a monolithic denture model produced using multi-material 3D printing that replicates the natural layered structure of human teeth.

Agriculture is in transition. Mounting pressure from climate change and the need to conserve resources and preserve biodiversity call for new approaches. Digital technologies are opening up new perspectives to accomplish this. The Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD is developing data based tools that visualize ecological interconnections, increase transparency in agricultural processes, and support sustainable management.

Agriculture is under considerable pressure to adapt. Climate change, resource scarcity, and growing sustainability demands require efficient solutions. At the same time, farms are expected to remain competitive and ensure reliable food supplies. From November 9 to 15, 2025, seven Fraunhofer Institutes will showcase the role of smart sensor technology, AI-supported analyses, and sustainable materials at AGRITECHNICA in Hannover, Germany (Hall 17, Booth B15).

How is digitalization transforming Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and who is actively shaping this change? These questions took center stage at the Partner Days 2025 hosted by the Fraunhofer IGD in Rostock. Around 50 representatives from politics, business, and science gathered on October 8 to exchange insights on ongoing projects and explore new impulses for the state’s digital transformation.

Darmstadt Biometrics Week 2025 will feature conferences, research projects, and an awards ceremony at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research (IGD) in Darmstadt. Academic, industry, and government experts will discuss the latest developments and applications of biometric systems, ranging from security and interoperability to practical use cases.

The National Research Center for Applied Cybersecurity ATHENE will showcase ready-to-use security solutions and practice-oriented research at it-sa 2025 in Nuremberg, strengthening IT security for business, government, and society. Whether it’s rapid analysis of network data, smart glasses with built-in facial recognition, realistic cyber emergency exercises, or IT forensics tools for detecting misinformation – from October 7–9, visitors can learn about current projects at the ATHENE booth in Hall 6-416 and experience firsthand how cybersecurity research works in practice. At AgroFarm Middle East 2025 in Dubai, Fraunhofer IGD will present innovative AI-based smart farming technologies for crop and livestock farming, as well as food safety. Fraunhofer IGD’s solutions combine imaging and sensor systems with intelligent analysis to boost efficiency, conserve resources, and bolster food security.
