Innovative, knowledge-based port control centers open up numerous new possibilities for the logistics systems of the future. However, this requires that today’s “dumb” and “silent” goods and products in port handling be equipped with an appropriate degree of “self-intelligence,” enabling them to independently navigate within the logistics system of the future. The associated vision of situational, intuitive monitoring, control, and planning of port-specific processes can actually become reality thanks to the DYNAMICPORT system components. Decentralized data management, the integration of internal and external knowledge structures and services, as well as novel visualization and monitoring methods, allow for rapid decision-making based on flat hierarchies.
The goal of the project was to create a seamless, process-oriented development and operating environment for monitoring, controlling, and planning port-specific processes in the form of a modular, expandable logistics solution (port control center). By flexibly coupling visualization, terminal, and monitoring components within an integrated system, access to information, control, and dynamic simulation across organizational logistics processes between multiple companies, service providers, and users was supported and enabled.
