With First Fast Trials, the Digital Ocean Lab offers a unique opportunity to test new maritime technologies, sensors, systems and prototypes quickly, easily and under realistic offshore conditions. Thanks to our existing infrastructure, we enable initial field tests at sea without long lead times or high entry barriers, all within a cost-efficient framework.

The Idea

Innovation requires early feedback from real-world conditions. Laboratory and simulation tests are important – but genuine offshore conditions can only be experienced at sea.

First Fast Trials closes exactly this gap: we provide easy access through regular trips to the test area and enable companies, start-ups and research partners to test their developments at an early stage under offshore conditions.

The Offer

Every month we provide scheduled testing trips with our research vessel.
As long as capacity is available on board, partners can easily join and test their own systems, components or prototypes.

How It Works

1. Submit a request – Describe your project and your testing requirements.
   
2. Coordination & planning – We assess feasibility and coordinate participation in one of the upcoming trips.
   
3. Conduct the test voyage – You join our monthly trip and carry out your tests in the offshore test area.
   
4. Evaluate results – You receive valuable data, insights and practical experience for further development.
