The Director of Fraunhofer IGD, Prof. Dr. Dieter W. Fellner, welcomed State Minister Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus.

The event at Fraunhofer IGD, organized by the Rhine-Main Regional Group of the German Informatics Society (Gesellschaft für Informatik), served not only to present Hesse’s digital strategy, but also as a platform for exchange. Plans for the digitalization of administrative services, digital schools, and research in artificial intelligence were discussed constructively. Fraunhofer IGD also supports a digital Hesse, for example by improving the expansion of fiber-optic infrastructure. With the Fibre3D technology, planning will in future take place in virtual space, saving travel time and costs. Cameras and 3D scanners mounted on vehicles capture the street sections planned for fiber-optic installation in 2D and 3D, enabling planners – or rather their virtual avatars – to move freely through the environment and explore it.
