Fraunhofer IGD invites you to the third workshop of the “Center for Applied Quantum Computing” on November 4, 2026. At the workshop, representatives from research and industry will present their activities in the field of applied quantum computing. This time, the focus will be on providers and developers of quantum computing hardware and software. The workshop will take place at Fraunhofer IGD on November 4, starting at 1:00 p.m. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.

At EuroTier 2026, Fraunhofer IGD will be presenting innovative solutions to improve animal welfare. One of our highlights is the AI-supported early detection of lameness in dairy cows. Lameness is one of the most common health problems in dairy farming and affects both animal welfare and the economic viability of farms. The camera-based health monitoring system developed by Fraunhofer IGD uses artificial intelligence to continuously analyze the animals' gait, posture and movement patterns. This enables the early, objective detection of initial signs of lameness without the need for any intervention on the animal. The insights gained help farmers to take targeted action and optimize herd management in a sustainable manner.

Formnext in Frankfurt am Main will take place from November 17 to 20, 2026. The leading international trade fair for additive manufacturing showcases the latest developments across the entire industrial 3D printing process chain and provides a platform for discussion on innovative technologies, applications, and the industry’s prospects for the future.

Following the first part of the Darmstadt Biometrics Week in September, the Darmstadt Biometrics Week – Research will take place from November 24 to 26, 2026, marking the first dedicated scientific event series hosted at Fraunhofer IGD. The event offers leading experts from academia, industry, and government agencies the opportunity to exchange ideas on current research findings, innovative technologies, and future developments in the field of biometrics. A key highlight is the 25th International Conference of the Biometrics Special Interest Group (BIOSIG 2026), which brings together international researchers and professionals to discuss the latest scientific advances and applications in biometric technologies.
