Wir hoffen, im nächsten Jahr das geplante Programm größtenteils unverändert durchführen zu können – wir stehen im Kontakt zu Ausstellern und Partnern. Networking und gegenseitiger Austausch sollen wieder eine zentrale Rolle spielen.
Doch auch in diesem Jahr möchten wir Ihnen einen kurzen Einblick in die aktuellen Herausforderungen der Branche geben, gerade im Hinblick auf die aktuelle Situation. Wie geht es in naher Zukunft für die Unterwassertechnologie weiter? Wie können wir uns gegenseitig unterstützen und voneinander lernen? Wir freuen uns, dass wir zusammen mit unseren internationalen Partnern eine öffentliche Web-Session durchführen werden, zu der wir Sie hiermit herzlich einladen.

Nach einem erfolgreichen Auftakt 2019 lädt die DIGITAL OCEAN CONVENTION auch 2021 nach Rostock ein! An zwei Tagen diskutieren Teilnehmer aus Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Politik über aktuelle Entwicklungen und Trends in der technologischen Unterwasserforschung. Am ersten Tag freuen wir uns auf Podiumsrunden und Keynotes und beleuchten die Fragen des notwendigen politischen Rahmens für impulssetzende Forschung und die Chancen eines interdisziplinären Technologiecampus‘. Der zweite Tag bietet tiefere Einblicke in verschiedene Technologiefelder wie beispielsweise UXO oder Offshore-Instandsetzung.
Freuen Sie sich auf eine spannende Tagung mit viel Input und Möglichkeiten zum Netzwerken. Eine begleitende Ausstellung präsentiert aktuelle Produkte und Entwicklungen der digitalen Unterwassertechnologie.

Kyle Burton
Kyle is the Tenant Engagement Manager at the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE). Kyle holds a diploma in Business Administration and an advanced diploma in International Business. Previously, Kyle worked for MetOcean Data Systems (now MetOcean Telematics), Vemco and Innovacorp. Kyle was active in helping establish COVE's early-stage startup incubator called Start-Up Yard. Kyle is putting his education and experience into practice and helping tenants maximize their experience at COVE. He is active in mentoring startups and he's always eager to work to better understand their challenges and business goals.
Stephanie Kemna
Dr. Stephanie Kemna is a project manager and software engineer at Maritime Robotics AS, based in Trondheim, Norway. She has 11+ years of experience developing software and algorithms for autonomous underwater vehicles and autonomous surface vehicles. Dr. Kemna holds a BSc and MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Groningen, as well as a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. She has been leading the ESA-funded SyriUS project at Maritime Robotics over the last year, and is coordinating activities in several other nationally and internationally funded R&D projects.
Kim Knauer
Dr. Kim Knauer is a remote sensing specialist with advanced knowledge in satellite imagery applications and data analysis working at EOMAP, Seefeld, Germany. He has more than 9 years of experience in the field of earth observation based on satellite, airborne and drone systems. Dr. Kim Knauer holds a diploma (equiv. to MSc) in Geography and a PhD in Natural Sciences, both from the University of Würzburg, Germany. At EOMAP, he works as a project manager and EO data analyst within a number of commercial and R&D projects around the globe. Supported by a team of geographers, physicists and IT experts, he is responsible for the development and supervision of projects and for the derivation and analysis of bathymetric information, seafloor as well as land use classifications.
Gisle Nondal
Dr. Gisle Nondal joined GCE Ocean Technology in 2016, taking on the position as R&D Manager.
He holds a PhD in marine biogeochemistry from the University of Bergen and the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center.
Dr. Nondal also heads the Ocean Innovation Norwegian Catapult Centre, a non-profit centre assisting companies in developing prototypes, offering expertise and equipment for testing, visualisation and simulation to turn innovative ideas into new products and services in an effective manner at a lower risk. He has previously held researcher positions in marine biogeochemistry at NORCE and the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA).
David Shea
David Shea is the Senior Vice President of Engineering for Kraken Robotics, based in Mount Pearl, NL. Mr. Shea has been managing the design, production and operation of underwater robots in the United States and Canada for over 12 years. He has led field teams on sea trials all over the world, and was deploying Kraken’s sonar technologies for the discovery of the HMS Erebus from the 2014 Franklin Expedition and the Raise of the Arrow Expedition in 2017 (resulting in the discover of 2 of 9 Avro Arrow models). Previously, he was the Engineering Manager at Marine Robotics Inc, as well as being the lead design engineer for the SQX-500 AUV. Mr. Shea holds a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria.
Asgeir J. Sørensen
Autonomous marine operations and systems enable new business potentials in the blue economy in maritime transport, offshore oil and gas, fisheries and aquaculture, marine mining, offshore wind, tourism, coastal infrastructure and ocean science. A holistic and sustainable approach addressing global challenges (e.g. energy, food, biodiversity, logistics, etc) and knowledge-based governance is a must for long-term value creation. The presentation will address recent research and innovation achievements on autonomous vehicles and robots operating under water, on the sea surface, in air and space for high-precision and safety-critical operations in harsh environments.
