The joint project BAAL (www.baal.aal-mv.de) aims at developing a modular, flexible and scalable system for further training in ambient assisted living (AAL). On the one hand professional and academic trainings are to be developed which meet the requirements of different target groups. On the other hand communication and networking opportunities between the different professional groups involved are to be created. Furthermore, the project aims at providing detailed information about the potentials of AAL for the public, especially elderly people and their relatives as well as for decision-makers in organizations, administration and care institutions.
BAAL was funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) from 2011 to 2014 in the course of the initiative “Further education and qualification in the field of ambient assisted living” (QuAALi). It is also part of the project “Leading a self-determined life at old age” in the course of the Federal Government’s high-tech strategy.
Project partners were the centre for quality management in studies and further education at the University of Rostock (ZQS), IT-college Putbus gGmbH (ITC), Fraunhofer IGD Rostock, the interdisciplinary faculty of the University of Rostock (INF) and ANOVA Multimedia Studios GmbH Rostock.
Fraunhofer IGD was responsible for the technical support of the education modules developed and the requirements analysis of the project.
Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) due to a decision of the German Bundestag.
Project management is carried out by VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH.
