At the Institute of Fisheries of the State Research Centre of Agriculture and Fisheries Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (LFA) at the Born location, work has been on optimizing the production of Whiteleg shrimp since September 2017. To this end, experiments are being carried out that help to improve the survival and growth of shrimp.
To optimize the work of the LFA, the Fraunhofer IGD is developing an experimental system and an optical, non-invasive process that is intended to be used for the detection, assessment, counting and measurement of shrimp in breeding tanks. The recognition and assessment of the condition of the hepatopancreas as well as the mid and rectum plays a special role. The evaluation of the image material required for this is carried out using machine learning methods.
