In daily hospital routines, a great number of different data is collected on each individual patient. It is hardly possible to record and analyze these data without software that works as automatically as possible. Visual computing solutions by Fraunhofer IGD allow for the automated combination (registration) of medical image data and their annotation/segmentation, as well as the extraction of image-based biomarkers (radiomics).
Moreover, visual analytics methods help the physician present the clinical, radiological, and pathological data in a logical way, as well as provide him with tools to interact with these data and explore them, such as to improve the implementation of tumor boards. Ultimately, the anatomical structures obtained on the basis of image data can also be used in medical training via virtual and augmented reality learning environments.
