Content, document and product security

The incessant increase of the hardware and network capacities and improvement of software and compressing algorithms like MPEG 1 Layer III generates a rapidly growing market for dealing with digital data like audio, video and 3D. Besides an easier distribution and reduced storage requirements the negative effects are an uncontrolled spreading of copyrighted material. Easy-to-use peer-to-peer services are currently used to exchange the data locally stored on the systems of participating clients. As a result, illegal copying and distribution especially of music via the Internet must be considered a new form of piracy. New technologies are necessary to incorporate protection of intellectual property rights. Acwa, WoMuS and GeoMark are so-called watermarking technologies developed in the Security Technology departement at IGD which guarantee the quality of the marked data and provide robustness of the embedded watermark.
