Biometric recognition is the modern alternative of traditional authentification methods like PINs, passwords, keys or cards.
The department Security Technology has been working on evaluation of biometric recognition since 1998. It also examines possible threats to biometrical methods and system security. As a result of our experience we developed a three-dimensional face recognition system in 2005 for applications with higher security needs.
Current Projects
- FIReBIRD
Facial Image Recognition Benchmark Including Realistic Disturbances (International Face Image Database): A collection of facial images including valid and invalid images with respect to the ISO standard for performance and conformance testing and for the development of new algorithms. - 3D Face (external link)
3-D face recognition for unattended border control - Biometric demonstration and evaluation center
In this laboratory biometrics can be experienced. Furthermore evaluations especially in the field of security and fake countermeasures are carried out.
Concluded Projects
- BioFace
The project covers tests of existing facial recognition algorithms and an examination of biometric surveillance systems based on facial recognition. - BioFinger
In the project biofinger the performace of several fingerprint recognition systems and sensors is examined. - BioIS
In this study the performance of various biometric systems and methods was examined. - ZAVIR
In the project ZAVIR a secure signature creation device is designed and realised. The protection of the signature key can be done using biometric methods.
