Life BC has augmented the range
Institute for applied research in Visual Computing
At the booth of the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research in Hanover, Fraunhofer IGD shows how LifeBC has augmented the range of services for building planners, maintenance and service experts for buildings.
With the Frankfurt Exhibition Hall, the designers of the Virtual and Augmented Reality competence center realized an architectural model for planning purposes at the multi-touch table. It combines previous 2D plans with 3D models.
Now, the researchers integrate additional information such as electrical outlets, cable routes or piping systems in the model via augmented reality (AR). These can then be enriched by further information such as construction year, material, last maintenance by the service experts. In the real environment, this information can then be easily accessed by smartphone or iPad.
